Coming Soon – Eli Roth's cannibal film throwback 'The Green Inferno' to be released in the UK on 12th February

Determined to protect the Amazon rainforest, a group of student
activists fly to Peru only to crash-land deep in the jungle. Captured by a
pack of bloodthirsty cannibals, the survivors suffer unspeakable acts of
butchery at the hands of the very tribe they were trying to save. A non-stop
barrage of carnage and chills, The Green Inferno is an unhinged blast!

Eli Roth's latest has been a long time coming for UK audiences. After playing at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2013, the film had its UK premiere at FrightFest 2014, but only now has it finally made it to our screens for good.

The film is set for a limited 'late night' theatrical release in select Picturehouse cinemas on February 12th, before a digital release the following Monday (15th) and a DVD & Blu-ray release a week later (22nd), promising a director's cut for all you gorehounds out there.

It's a shame the film won't be receiving a wider theatrical release, but the 'special late night screenings' seem like a good idea - my fingers are crossed for the Phoenix Picturehouse! - and at least the home entertainment release is just a few days down the line.

I must say I've been looking forward to this one. I was running out of patience with Roth's previous UK release, Knock Knock, until a brilliant finale brought me totally back on board. Here's to hoping this cannibal film homage can match up to that final act!

In the US? Already seen the film? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
